Coaching Announcement
It gives me great pleasure to now officially announce that Darren Stapleton has accepted the Head Coach position at the club. Darren has been a stalwart of rugby in the town and more recently at Swifts for some years! His position as dedicated Head Coach will bring a fresh new feel to the club, where he will be assisted by Backs Coach, Alun Evans. Between them they have already put a training plan together for the season and are committed to making training and playing fun and inclusive, with the focus on skill development and of course, winning!

Taffy bollox!!
Yes I will be turning my arm over this year Mr Evans. If you remember last year I had to score both innings but out of the good nature in my heart I decided to go in to bat and give my wicket away so spasm could claim a wicket and feel part of the team. As we all know Jocks (even pretend ones) don't play cricket!!

r.e. Girls
Matthew, I'm a lover not a fighter! but if I did want to win a fight with Jone I would simply flick him on his right shoulder and he would crumple in a heap crying like the big fijian baby he has shown himself to be on several occasions over recent years. Bugbrooke away springs to mind. However, as he pointed out he is captain of the rest of the world XI and I must respect that. By the way, have you found those two cricket balls that got smashed out of bedford park two years ago yet? Also, will you be bringing the bowling challenge this year or bottling it like the Mowsbury game last year?

Guys
Once again, the annual Swifts England v The Rest of the World Cricket match will be taking place and your country needs you!
The details are:
Date - Sunday 17th August 2008
Venue - Bedford Park
Time - 2pm
Cost £10
A BBQ and a few cheeky beers will be available. Remember it's a family day so bring the kids, grandkids, dog, cousins, maybe even give old, smelly uncle jim a ring and get him down.
The overall score in this prestigious event stands at 1-1 but after the pummelling inflicted by the English side on the ROTW side last year, surely the ROTW side are demoralised and already beaten going into this years fixture! Or are they?!
As ever, the game will rest on your participation so if you are a jonny foreigner, please email your ROTW captain, Jone "loser" Fiji ineedagreencard@hotmail.com to register your interest If you are a proud, stout, patriotic, rose wearing, all foreigners are immigrants Englishman, give Ian Botham, aka Browny, an email
It's first come, first served so, if previous years are anything to go by, email your relevant captain quick smart. Remember, national bragging rights for the year are up for grabs!!

AGM - Weds 30th April
Guys
it's the AGM tomorrow night (or probably tonight by the time you read this!).
It's vital everyone attends to voice their opinion. The decisions we make at this meeting will shape the club for the next season! Those of you that have had things to say and want to air views...this is your chance.
If you want to stand for a committee position and take ore of an active role in running YOUR club...this is your chance!
We need to all be there to decide what our aims are to be for 2008/9 and how we are going to achieve them. Don't moan next season for decisions that were made in your absence!
It starts at 8pm at the track, see you there!
Cheers Guys

Cup Final
Boys, well done yesterday, you gave it your best but on the day our best just wasn't good enough. It just didn't happen for us. Full Credit to Queens on their performance, worth winners. For us, it just sums up the season in many ways...as we have struggled all year to produce the goods and find the next gear. Anyway... I'd just like to express my appreciation to Darren for his coaching efforts in 2007/2008. I'm sure I speak for all the players and that it's a shame we couldn't have won the cup and the league but no one can fault Darren's efforts on the coaching side of things. Likewise, Kopec has been outstanding this season in the captaincy role and gone above and beyond his role all too often.
